Privacy Policy

1. Who we are

Bitbookify operates the website bitbookify.com, a directory to find and book salons in the Netherlands. For privacy questions or requests you can reach us at privacy@bitbookify.com.

2. What data we collect

When you simply browse the site, we collect privacy-friendly analytics data: the pages you view, an anonymized visitor identifier (a daily one-way hash — we do not store your raw IP address), your device type, browser language, and the website that referred you.

We do not collect your name, email or phone number to browse. If you choose to book an appointment, the booking is handled by the salon’s booking provider (such as bitbooking.nl) and is governed by their privacy policy.

3. Why we process it and legal basis

We use analytics to understand how the site is used, to improve it and for general marketing insights. Where required, this is based on your consent (given via the cookie bar). Strictly necessary processing to operate and secure the site is based on our legitimate interest.

4. Cookies and similar technologies

Necessary cookies/local storage make the site work (for example remembering your language or cookie choice). Analytics only run after you select “Accept all” in the cookie bar. You can change or withdraw your choice at any time via “Cookie settings” in the footer.

After you accept, we use Google Analytics 4 (a Google service) alongside our own privacy-friendly statistics to measure how the site is used. Google Analytics sets analytics cookies (such as _ga) and processes online identifiers like your IP address and a randomly generated client ID. We run it in analytics-only mode, with advertising features, ad personalization and cross-site (Google signals) tracking switched off.

We do not use advertising or cross-site tracking cookies.

5. How long we keep data

Analytics events are kept in aggregated/pseudonymized form for up to 14 months, after which they are deleted or further aggregated.

6. Sharing with third parties

We do not sell your personal data. Limited data may be processed by service providers acting on our behalf, including our hosting provider, the booking provider (bitbooking.nl) when you book, and map providers (OpenStreetMap / Google Maps) when a map is shown. Map embeds may set their own cookies once loaded.

With your consent, Google (Google Ireland Limited) processes analytics data on our behalf via Google Analytics, as described in section 4. This may involve a transfer to the United States, safeguarded by the EU Standard Contractual Clauses.

7. Your rights

Under the GDPR you have the right to access, rectify, erase, restrict or object to the processing of your personal data, and to data portability. Because our analytics data is anonymized, we may be unable to link it to you individually. To exercise your rights, contact us at privacy@bitbookify.com. You also have the right to lodge a complaint with the Dutch Data Protection Authority (Autoriteit Persoonsgegevens).

8. Security

We apply appropriate technical and organizational measures to protect data, including encrypted connections (HTTPS) and restricted access to our systems.

9. External links and content

Salon listings may link to third-party websites. We are not responsible for the content or privacy practices of those sites.

10. Changes

We may update this policy. The “last updated” date above reflects the latest version.
